Unexpected tears

I'm sitting here (been sitting here an hour or so) burning CD's for a recent photography project. Austin was running around like a monkey all over the place. To try to put a halt to the round and round noise of him riding his truck right around me, I got him a marker and let him write all over a CD. While the CD's were burning I hopped over to a few blogs I check frequently. I stumbled across one whose song was "I'll stand by you" by Carrie Underwood. Without even knowing it, I'm singing out loud. I was so consumed in what I was doing that I didn't even notice that Austin had stopped coloring and was just looking at me. He crawled from is chair to mine and was hugging me really tighly. I heard him singing along the chorus and I kept singing to him (in my less than American Idol quality voice). We sat here in my desk chair rocking back and forth until the song was over. By that time, we were both in tears just holding each other. He looked up at me with tears streaming down his face and asked me if that was a love song or a sad song. I told him it was a love song and he told me it was beautiful. After that, still holding each other, we had a heart to heart and sat here both crying. He is an amazing kid and I am so thankful to be the person he calls mama. He is doing so well (much better than me) through all the changes to our family as of late. I'm so proud of him.
