Project Kitchen | When things go bad

In my last post, I called my ever so handy mom for help. She came to the rescue, or so I thought. She came to help us get the light hung and thirty minutes later, I didn't have a ceiling. OMG, heart palpitations. I was about to cry... no I take that back, I did cry. So she tells me that we have electrical issues that need to be addressed stat and the drywall in the ceiling had to come down. I thought we had done so good and the next thing I know I have way more of a mess than I started with, have no idea how much this is going to cost to fix and I have a timeline of 16 days because I had a Pampered Chef party scheduled on the 18th. So within a day, we hardly had any ceiling or walls intact. We were working day and night to get this fixed. Mom rewired all the lights and outlets in 2 days. Cue the drywall installers. Oh yeah, that would be us too. My mom and I somehow gathered Hercules kind of strength and got the drywall back up on the ceiling. That stuff is no joke. Heavy as all get out! We finally get it up and then comes the fun part. Mudding drywall screw holes-- not a problem at all. Mudding seams over 50 year old rafters that are uneven-- not so much. It was a huge pain in the rear! But, I will say that Damon and I did almost all of the mudding ourselves and I'm quite proud of us. There is only 1 place that you can even see the joints. Things are starting to look up from here.
